Trust. Collaboration. Action.
United against environmental destruction and poverty, we stand.
With the help of the Sirona Cares Foundation, we have set in motion “Global Call To Youth” in Haiti. By the end of 2010, we will have finished our first phase of planting fruit saplings at the Eglise de Dieu School, in L’Azile, Haiti. This first school has plenty of water at the orchard site and planting will begin soon. The school officials and the surrounding community are excited, and ready to get involved. They will be teaching the children how to plant and care for the orchard. We have provided Sirona Cares Foundation funds in the amount of $350 for the purchase of twenty to thirty fruit trees to be planted by the children, school & community leaders. The saplings will be purchased in Haiti for a cost of approximately $12 per sapling; the assortment will include Avocado, Mango, Limes, and other fruit trees that are available, including Moringa. Project Jatropha is committed to our “Global Call To Youth” to plant trees in an effort to reduce global warming. Our next phase will be in spring or summer of 2011 when we hope to travel to Haiti to expand our efforts to additional schools and orphanages, and also to continue our collaboration at the Eglise de Dieu School.
